Rob
has experience in graphics and web design, portrait photography and
post production, retouching and specialist restoration and manipulation, he also has an extensive
range of styles in illustration and fine art. Through educational
and work experience he has acquired many technological and manual
skills and knowledge of printing processes including litho, digital,
photographic and dye sublimation as well as working with vinyl. Rob is warm and professional with people on many levels, especially natural and comfortable working with children. His
interests include playing the drums, painting, drawing and exhibiting
work in shows and online. He is a naturally creative person with strong
ideas and can learn new processes and technologies very quickly.
He currently works in a photo lab in a varied and busy environment,
primarily as a photographer and portrait studio manager dealing with shoots from contact to post production retouching in Photoshop. He can process and
print film and digital images, often dealing with professional photographers
and their work in colour matching and production of high quality prints.
Other jobs involve the printing and hand stretching of canvases, and
the production of ‘photo gifts’ such as T-shirts and mugs.
His freelance experience includes event photography and working with professional photographers
at events preparing, diplaying or printing pictures on site. Rob was also hired
as a freelance to teach Photoshop to staff working at the Canterbury
Oast Trust.
Rob was also one of three directors of Larvae Creative Ltd., a business-to-business design company for print and the web.
Before this he worked in a well known art supplies store where one
aspect was picture framing, measuring work and giving customers advice
on colour schemes and choices of moulding types, liasing with the
framer to order the work required. The shop was a central supplier
to many local artists and companies with a very friendly and a social
atmosphere. After University Rob worked through the Summer at a design
consultancy in central London designing and assisting in the production
of work for live projects in print. He worked on several jobs with
one of his campaigns pitched to Borders bookshops’ for their
spring promotion.
After leaving school with GCSE's he went on to Canterbury College
and KIAD Maidstone to gain Distinctions in his Advanced GNVQ Art &
Design and HND Graphic Design & Illustration. He works with Mac
and PC, Photoshop 4 to CS3 with over 10 years overall experience, also InDesign, Dreamweaver and the whole CS package, CorelDraw, Paint & R.A.V.E, Quark
XPress, Microsoft Office and many
other applications to a high level of ability. |
