A natural creative with experience in graphics, photography and artworking with an eye for detail and an organised working style. Approachable and personabIe, I have always built great working relationships. I can bring experience and strong ability in customer service and an excellent telephone manner with adaptability to new working processes.
My last role was in a photo lab and portrait studio working within a small busy team often to tight deadlines, with a focus on unparalleled customer service. Being a trusted key-holder who regularly managed the shop and lead other staff members, and through promotion and high quality standards in my time at the company I greatly increased takings in the portrait studio. Among a wide skill set including photography, retouching and printing I developed a firm understanding of networks, large format printing, promotional graphics, and dealing with the specific needs of individual customers.
As a designer and director of LarvaeCreative Ltd. I focused on business-to-business design for print and the web. Meeting with new clients to discuss their requirements, seeing jobs through from concept to completion. Rebranding could involve design for stationery, vehicular graphics and uniforms so I learned many new processes which added to my skills from both practical and aesthetic standpoints. In my dual capacity as secretary I worked with our accountant giving me a better understanding of budgeting and targets. During a placement at Still Waters Run Deep in London, I worked designing and pitching for live projects in print. I had work considered by Borders bookshops, visited a print house and helped finalise brochures for Great Ormond Street Hospital. My ability with computers and creative packages, along with my visualisation skills were applied to each brief requiring highly finished artwork to effectively communicate my ideas.
I attended Canterbury College
and KIAD Maidstone to gain Distinctions in Advanced GNVQ Art &
Design and HND Graphic Design & Illustration. My other skills include Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Lightroom, Mac OS, Microsoft Office, XHTML Hand Coding, CSS and LAN Setup and Repair. Freelancing in graphic design, photography and illustration for a varied range of clients in many fields, I have built on my professional practice and relationships. Canterbury Oast Trust hired me to teach Photoshop to staff, to help the centre branch into technology as a new form of expression for clients living with mental and physical disabilities. Hand crafting gift items as a creative outlet and maintaining a website has led to me contributing comic strips to independent press publications and other artistic commissions. Helping local parishes by donating my time and photographic skills has led to other opportunities in arranging new church signage and other work benefitting both myself and the community.
